Privacy Policy — Android

This policy covers the Android version of Typotypo distributed on Google Play. The iOS version is a separate build with a separate policy — see the Typotypo Privacy Policy for iOS.

Your posters and the photos in them stay on your device. Typotypo has no account, no sign-in, and no server of ours, and it makes no network request of its own. The only thing that leaves your phone is the pseudonymous usage analytics described below, which never contains your images or the text you type.

Typotypo does not browse your gallery. When you set a background image, Android's system photo picker opens in a separate process, you choose one picture, and the app receives only that picture. Because the picker does this, Typotypo declares no photo, media, or storage permission and never asks you for one. There is also no camera permission.

The image you pick is copied into Typotypo's own private storage so your project still opens if the original is later moved or deleted. That copy is not shared with any other app and is removed when you clear the app's data or uninstall it.

When you export a poster, Typotypo asks Android to save the finished image to your gallery in an album called typotypo. It writes that one file and nothing else — it does not read, list, or modify anything already in your gallery. You can also send the export straight to another app through the Android share sheet, in which case you choose the destination.

• Your projects — the text you typed and its preset, colors, spacing, effects, and frame
• The background image for each project, and its crop, scale, blur, brightness, and contrast
• Copies of the background images you imported
• App preferences — project sort order, and whether the poster reminder is on

All of it lives in Typotypo's own private storage. Nothing is uploaded, and there is no server-side copy for us to hold or hand over.

To understand how the app is used and to improve it, Typotypo sends usage events to an analytics service that Pentarab runs itself. It is not Google Analytics, and the data is not passed on to any third party. The events record which screens you open and which features you use — creating a project, applying a preset, changing a background, exporting a design. This is the complete list of what that service receives:

• The app identifier, the platform, and the app version and build number.
• An install identifier — a random value the app generates on first launch. It is not derived from your device, your Google account, or any advertising identifier, and reinstalling the app produces a new one.
• A session identifier, so one run of the app can be told apart from the next.
• Screen names, and how long each screen was open. The duration is measured from a matching open and close, not guessed from the gap between events.
• The UTC time of each event, plus your time-zone offset so local time can be reconstructed.
• Device information: the operating system and its version, the screen size, and the locale. The device model is not sent.
• A country. This is worked out by the receiving server from the connection itself — the app never sends it, and it is country-level only.

The service does not store your IP address. It is read at the edge only to derive the country and is then discarded. It collects no advertising identifier, no precise location, and no personal identifier such as a name, email address, or phone number. Nothing you create or enter in Typotypo is part of an analytics event.

Your text, your images, and your project names are never included in an analytics event. Event values are screen names and feature names only.

Typotypo does not collect the Android Advertising ID. Both advertising-ID permissions (com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID and android.permission.ACCESS_ADSERVICES_AD_ID) are explicitly removed from the app's manifest and are absent from the build published on Google Play. There are no ads, no crash reporting, and no performance monitoring.

Typotypo declares exactly two permissions, both for the optional reminder:

• Notifications — so the app can post the “make a poster” reminder. The reminder is off by default; Android asks you for permission only when you switch it on.
• Run at startup — so a reminder you scheduled survives a reboot. An ordinary permission; no prompt.

There is no camera, microphone, photo, media, storage, or location permission. The network permission Android lists comes from the analytics library.

On Google Play, Typotypo is a paid app: you buy it once and every preset, gradient, pattern, frame, and export option is unlocked. There are no in-app purchases, no subscriptions, no watermarks, and no ads. Payment is handled entirely by Google — Pentarab never sees your card details, your Google account details, or your billing address.

• Everything stays on your device
• You can delete individual projects inside the app, or use the reset option in Settings to clear them all
• Posters you already saved to your gallery are yours — delete them from your gallery app as you would any photo
• Uninstalling the app, or clearing its data from Android Settings → Apps → Typotypo → Storage, removes everything the app holds
• If you want the analytics associated with your install removed, email us and we will act on it

Typotypo is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the app, please contact us so we can address it.

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
