This policy explains what CardForm does with your information. The short version: your card details stay on your device, and Pentarab never receives them.
On-Device by Design
CardForm has no account, no sign-in, and no server of its own. Cards are composed, rendered, and exported entirely on your device. Pentarab operates no backend that receives your card details, and cannot see the cards you make. The one outside service the app talks to is Apple Maps, for the optional address search described below.
Information You Provide
You type your own business card details into the app — the same details you would print on a card:
- Name, role, and business name
- Phone number, email address, website, and social handle
- Postal address
- An optional logo image you choose to add
These are stored locally on your device and are used only to lay out and render your card. If you add a QR code, it encodes these same details as a contact card, generated on your device.
Data Storage
Everything CardForm saves lives on your device:
- Your card details and saved cards are stored in the app’s local database.
- Your preferences — default card size and whether reminders are on — are stored in local app settings.
- Exported images and PDFs are written to the app’s own storage so they can be handed to the iOS share sheet.
Deleting the app removes all of it. Pentarab keeps no copy.
Address Search and Maps
The optional “Find on map” feature uses Apple Maps (MapKit) to search for an address and to show a map. The text you type into the address search, and the map position you choose, are sent to Apple to find matching addresses; Apple's handling of those requests is governed by Apple's privacy policy. CardForm never asks for or uses your device's location — the map opens on a fixed default area, and you move it by hand. The address you pick is stored only on your device, with the rest of your card details. Apple Maps is a trademark of Apple Inc.
Sharing a Card
When you share a card, iOS hands the exported file to whichever destination you pick — Messages, Mail, Files, another app. What happens to the file after that is governed by that destination's own privacy policy, not this one. CardForm does not upload your card anywhere on its own.
Notifications
If you turn on reminders, CardForm schedules a local notification on your device. It is generated and delivered by iOS; no reminder passes through a server, and nothing about your cards is included in it. You can turn reminders off in the app's Settings, or in iOS Settings for CardForm.
Subscriptions and Billing
Subscriptions are sold and processed by Apple. Pentarab never sees your payment details. The app receives only whether an entitlement is currently active, which it stores on your device to decide whether exports carry a watermark.
Analytics
This version of CardForm does not include analytics and collects no usage data. If that changes in a future version, this policy will be updated before that version ships, and any analytics will be limited to anonymous, aggregated usage — never your card details.
Third-Party Services
Apple provides the App Store and processes subscriptions; Apple's privacy policy applies to that relationship. CardForm uses no other third-party service, no advertising network, and no tracking SDK.
Your Data Control
Because everything is local, you control it directly:
- Edit or delete any saved card in the app.
- Turn reminders off at any time in Settings.
- Delete the app to remove all card details and preferences from your device.
Children’s Privacy
CardForm is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them. Since the app collects no personal information on Pentarab's behalf at all, there is nothing for us to hold or delete.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
